AMBIENTE & RISORSE S.r.l.
NEW ANAEROBIC DIGESTION SECTION FOR THE TREATMENT OF FOOD WASTE (FORSU) AND THE PRODUCTION OF CALCIUM CARBONATE
As part of the expansion of the Ambiente & Risorse S.r.l. facility, a new anaerobic digestion section has been constructed for the treatment of food waste (FORSU) and the production of biomethane. The plant configuration also includes the recovery of CO₂ from the off-gas stream generated by the upgrading section, which is used to convert the digestate into calcium carbonate in accordance with Legislative Decree 75/2010. The facility is therefore one of the very few examples in Italy of a FORSU recovery and valorization plant with zero CO₂ emissions.
In fact, the CO₂ is recovered and reused for agricultural purposes in the calcium carbonate production process.
This project builds on the site’s existing activities, which focus on the bioremediation of contaminated soil using bio-piles, and represents a significant technological upgrade to the existing facility, in line with the principles of the circular economy and renewable energy production.
A strategic initiative that integrates advanced treatment technologies, resource recovery, and solutions aimed at ensuring the environmental sustainability of the production site.
